Mommy's Weird

Please tell us a little about yourself.

I’m currently an on hiatus radio DJ who is now a stay at home mother of two children. I have an unhealthy addiction to chicken wings and Netflix. I’m a humour blogger so the blog is a reflection of the realities of being a 30-something Mom with all the struggles that come with it. I would love to be a Mom that bakes cookies every week or keeps the house clean or does DIY projects. But, I am not. I try to be that sort of woman, but I just can’t. It is not in my genetic make up.

What’s one type of flooring you use in your children’s room and why?

I like carpet.  Our kids are still little and there is a ton of tickle fights and rough housing that happens in our home. We put fun mats on the carpet to give the kids an opportunity to show off their personality.

Why did you decide to start a blog? What do you enjoy about blogging?

I started a blog while on maternity leave with our second child.  I really missed the creativity of working in the radio industry and having co-workers. I also had a couple of friends suggest to me that I should star a blog and/or a YouTube channel.  Slowly, I did both! I never expected Mommy’s Weird to grow the way it has. I never expected to be on National TV with Tyra Banks and Jillian Michaels! I like being me and the opportunities that come with that.  There is nothing better then having a blog resonate with people, Christmas Sucks for MomsMother’s Guilt and What Happened to Our Neighbourhoods are just a few of the posts that mean an awful lot to me because my readers could relate.

Where do you find most of your inspiration?

My inspiration comes from my friends, my kids and eaves dropping on other Moms at the park.

Can you explain a recent project you’ve been working on?

One thing I have been working on is finding more Weird Recipes to try out and feature on Mommy’s Weird.  Mayonnaise and coca cola in cake? Yes please!
